From Concept to Delivery: Our Streamlined Manufacturing Process

What We Do

At Five Oceans, we have refined our garment manufacturing process over 20+ years of industry experience. Our systematic approach ensures efficiency, consistent quality, and transparent communication at every stage of production. Whether you are a startup launching your first collection or an established brand scaling production, our process is designed to support your unique needs.

Step 1: Initial Consultation and Design Development

Every successful partnership begins with understanding your vision. During our initial consultation, we discuss your target market, price points, design aesthetics, and technical requirements. Our experienced team provides valuable feedback on design feasibility, fabric selection, cost optimization, and production timelines. We believe in collaborative development—your creative vision combined with our manufacturing expertise creates the best outcomes.

For brands without complete technical documentation, we offer comprehensive design development services including tech pack creation, pattern drafting, and material recommendations tailored to your specific garment types and performance requirements.

Step 2: Tech Pack Development and Specification

A detailed tech pack serves as the blueprint for your entire production run. Our technical designers create comprehensive documentation including flat sketches with measurements, construction details, stitch types, bill of materials (BOM), grading specifications, and quality standards. This meticulous attention to detail eliminates ambiguity and ensures every garment meets your exact specifications.

We work with your existing tech packs or develop new ones from your sketches, reference samples, or design concepts. Our tech packs include all necessary information for accurate costing and efficient production setup.

Step 3: Sampling and Fit Development

Sampling is where your designs take physical form. We offer multiple sample stages depending on your needs:

  • Fit Samples: Initial prototypes to evaluate pattern, proportions, and construction methods
  • Pre-Production Samples (PPS): Made from actual production fabrics and trims, representing the final product
  • Sales Samples: Perfect for photo shoots, trade shows, and buyer presentations
  • Production Samples: Reference samples from the first production run

Our iterative sampling process includes fit sessions with detailed comments and revisions until perfect approval. We maintain comprehensive fit logs and measurement charts to ensure consistency across all sizes and production runs.

Step 4: Pre-Production Preparation

Once samples receive final approval, we transition to bulk production preparation. This critical phase includes fabric sourcing and procurement from approved suppliers, pattern grading for all sizes, marker making for optimal fabric utilization, production line planning, and worker training on your specific quality requirements.

We conduct fabric inspection upon arrival, checking for defects, color consistency, shrinkage, and hand feel. All fabrics undergo pre-production testing including shrinkage analysis, colorfastness evaluation, and pilling resistance assessment.

Step 5: Production and Multi-Stage Quality Control

Our ISO 9001-certified facility implements rigorous quality control throughout production. Our multi-stage QC system includes:

  • Incoming Quality Control (IQC): Fabric and trim inspection before production begins
  • In-Process Quality Control (IPQC): Regular checks during cutting, sewing, and finishing operations
  • Final Random Inspection (FRI): AQL 2.5 standard inspection of finished garments
  • Pre-Shipment Inspection: Final verification of packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation

Our quality team conducts regular line audits, operator training sessions, and maintains detailed inspection records for complete traceability. We use statistical process control methods to identify and address quality trends before they become issues.

Step 6: Logistics, Shipping and After-Sales Support

We coordinate comprehensive logistics services including export documentation, customs clearance, and shipping arrangements via sea freight, air freight, or express courier. We offer flexible incoterms including FOB, CIF, and DDP to suit your import capabilities and cost structures.

Our partnership does not end at delivery. We provide after-sales support including inventory management guidance, reorder planning, quality issue resolution, and continuous improvement discussions for future production runs.

Typical Production Timeline

* Sample Development: 15-21 days (depending on complexity)

* Fabric Sourcing: 7-14 days (stock fabrics) or 30-45 days (custom dyed)

* Bulk Production: 20-35 days (based on order quantity and style complexity)

* Shipping: 3-7 days (air), 25-35 days (sea)

Total lead time from order confirmation to delivery typically ranges from 45-75 days, depending on fabric availability, order quantity, and shipping method. We provide detailed production schedules with milestone tracking and regular progress updates throughout your production run.
